We have arrived at country number 1: CANADA!!! Crossing the border was uneventful. . .we had one major question that maybe some of you can help us with. The people working the border to go into Canada, Canadians or Americans? We had several deep conversations on our car ride together. Jared is grateful for roads because as people drive on them they kill millions and millions of bugs! We mainly talked about mosquitoes, for each one killed, we also killed any future off spring. Jared also informed Tina that she should be grateful we are taking this trip now and not in the early 1900’s. If we were it would take us over a month to get to Barcelona, we would have to travel by horse and then by boat. To be even more uplifting Jared confessed even then we most likely would not make it because we would die from some disease on the way over because we are poor and would be in the bottom of the ship.
With not enough time to really do anything in Toronto, we decided to head to the airport 4 hours early. So early in fact that we could not get into our terminal, but we were not alone as many other people were camped out outside the glass walls. We enjoyed a mojito at the Barcardi Rum Bar. After one sip we both agreed that Tina makes a better mojito, she got some sugar and then it was more up to par.
We are excited to start our trek! Many thanks to Sam from Avviso Travel for putting together this amazing, once in a lifetime vacation and to Dave and everyone at Social Meada Managers Inc. for putting countless hours into creating this amazing site for us to document not only this trek across Europe, but also future treks.
After a short 7 and a half hour flight. . .here we are! The plane didn’t quite take off on time because Canadians are very kind people. We pulled away from the gate and were on our way to the runway, when it turned around and went back to the gate because someone missed the flight. We were laughing that in America we would have just left, the couple behind us must have also been Americans because we heard them saying the same thing.
After customs we followed the herd to the baggage claim. Where we waited, and waited and waited! At one point luggage stopped coming out, and Tina may have kept her composure, but was panicking on the inside. We continued to wait and finally it arrived. Filled with excitement we decided to hop in a cab. We arrived at the hotel at 9am and we decided that this would be the perfect day to lay around on the beach. Since we already smelled, but couldn’t check in until after 2, all we could mask it with the ocean air and salt water. This proved to be a deadly combination when leaving the beach.

Nice Post T! Did I get to be the first one to comment??
Stimulating. Be careful, you do not want to run out topics to discuss. It is only day 1. By the way they are Canadians going into Canada and Americans coming back to US. Who’s your Mama! Safe trip. Sleep tight. When you awake you will be in SPAIN !!!! Imagine that. xoxoxox
Thanks . . .that was weighing on our mind. I actually had a hard time sleeping because I was thinking of that question. XOXO T
