It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. . .

It was Jackson’s First Christmas!! You can tell by the expression on his face when he met Santa that he was ecstatic for the Christmas season :O) Before we got to Santa I knew it would go one of two ways, extreme tears or complete lack of expression. The later is what happened as you can see in the pictures.

The month of December was filled with several firsts. In the beginning of the month he started walking on his own using the baby walker. He was ready to move, move, move. Thanks to Miss Tiff (AKA Dr. Tiff) Jackson also started using a big boy sippy for his milk. It was so cute watching him hold the sippy cup on his own, he is becoming such  big boy, which as parents know is bittersweet.  On his 8 month birthday Jackson’s first top tooth broke through, the boy was ready for daddy’s yummy steak!

We had Jared’s family over for Christmas Eve and Papa Chuck really got Jackson going. It was fun watching him react to other people. The video below really says it all. . .

Christmas Eve

So it came time for us first time parents to go christmas shopping for Jackson. . .we were practical enough to know that he could really care less about the fact that it was Christmas and had very little interest in presents, but loves the wrapping paper that covers them. We decided that we would get him ONE present, mainly because he has so many toys already, many of which he doesn’t play with. After going round and round the stores, we finally settled on a little Piano. I was excited because it wasn’t electronic, I felt like everything he had was electronic, and I wanted something more “old school.” Well that is exactly what Jackson got, he was no Mozart, but he liked banging on the keys  and the metal piano bars. You will see him opening it in the Christmas Morning video below.

Now, those of you who know me know about my shopping addiction. It got slightly better when we bought the house, much better when I was pregnant, and then down hill when Jackson was born. In my defense I wasn’t shopping for myself, I would be in the store and see something and think “Oh Jackson would look so cute in that” or “Oh Jackson would LOVE that.” Truth be told he loved the tag on the item more than the actual item. So there I was at Wegman’s on Christmas Eve and I saw the most adorable Eric Carle Smart Pad and Book Set. The Smart Pad has little animals and letters that connect to 8 books that came with it. Now I know it was recommended for kids 5 and older, but it was on SALE!!! So I just had to buy it! Jared is used to my “but honey I saved” and just laughed it off when I cam home with present #2.

I am Getting Better at this Present Thing . . .

This next video is best watched and then explained.  . . trust me you may be sick of my videos by now, but this is one you DO NOT want to skip.

Big Bra? Big Bro?

For those of you who know Jared, you shouldn’t be too surprised with his reaction. So now a little background to this video. . .Jared and I always wanted our kids close in age. So after Dave and Mary’s wedding we decided to “pull the goalie” and just let it happen. Well, similar to Jackson, it happened and it happened fast. Now mom’s out there know that after a baby things aren’t like clock work down there, so when I didn’t get my Aunt Flow, I didn’t think much of it, because I wasn’t a regular gal. Days passed and I finally decided to take the test, I bought it one day after work, but kind of forgot about it and decided to take it one day when Jared was gone. Jared was at the gym so I knew I had a couple hours, why I waited until the end of that time frame I do not know. So I finally took the test, and set it down to do it’s magic, and I hear Jared’s car pull in the driveway. Time was still not up and I was dying with anticipation, so I quickly put the test in the basement and acted as normal as I could. After a couple minutes I told Jared I had to run down and check to make sure we had diapers or something. I looked once, looked twice and sure enough I was pregnant. I went back upstairs and continued to try my best to act normal, even though I was bursting with excitement. Throughout the day I snuck into the basement any chance I could to take another peek, because I just couldn’t believe it. I knew I wanted to surprise Jared in someway on Christmas. It was three day’s until Christmas, and silly me thought it would be easy to find a Big Brother shirt. I finally found one and the rest is explained in the video!

Overall it was a great first holiday season and we are very excited for our growing family.
