The Winter Months. . .

As cold as this winter was, hanging out with Jackson could warm any heart, so it didn’t seem as bad. We spent many weekends having PJ days and watching Jackson explore and hit new baby milestones.

By 9 months he was taking some steps on his own, which added a whole new level of fun, excitement, and chasing! Luckily his fast crawling really got us used to being on the move. We were also pros at “No Thank You Jackson” and redirecting him when he would go for something unsafe. Mid-January brought a nice break for us because he started picking up his own food and feeding himself. This was nice because we got to enjoy our meals right along with him. Unfortunately, this also lead to a new design for our kitchen floor. Like all babies he would drop food, but he also learned to toss food that he isn’t really interested in to the floor.

Thanks to Miss Tiff for the following video, as you can see, he has my strong willed personality and he WILL NOT FALL ASLEEP just because someone puts him in his crib. . .

I WILL NOT FALL ASLEEP MISS TIFF!!

By February he was starting to discover himself and would clap his hands, play with his lips and mouth to make fun noises, and occasionally would “roll It” when you do patty cake with him. On March 4th he officially became a BIG BOY in the eyes of his doctors office, they no longer needed to use the baby scale because he could walk onto the big boy scale all on his own. The winter months were filled with several ear infections and trips to the doctors. Thankfully, Jackson didn’t seem to mind being sick. At one appointment he was running a 103 fever and running around the office hamming up the nurses. The doctor came in, took one look at him, looked to us and asked “Why are you here?”

March brought high fives and he would blow kisses. Shockingly his first word wasn’t “no” it was “ball.” “NO” was his second word and was accompanied by a head shake. The boy was already forming a little bit of Mommy’s attitude. We went to a traveling zoo in March, we screamed first time parents, because Jackson was really too young to truly enjoy what it had to offer, so we essentially paid way to much for the three of us to walk around and feed a couple of animals. Jackson went on his first merry-go-round ride and went down one of those huge potato sack slides that are at carnivals. None of the events of the day seemed to excite him much, as he had no expression for any of them.
