Uncle Dave and Aunt Mary’s Wedding Weekend!

It was time to take our first family trip! Dave and Mary decided to get married in Lake Placid over Veteran’s Day Weekend. This was perfect because it was our 4 year anniversary and a 3 day weekend. It was also nice because my mom was going to be there to help us out since it was our first time going away with Jackson.

Dave finally followed my dad’s advice. . .he found a nice girl and did the right thing!. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Mary to our family. I mean let’s be honest, if she can handle Dave, she is all right in my book! For those of who know Dave know that he can be intense and somewhat obsessive (I mean the kid was dropped off at Latta Lea Golf Course for 8 hrs a day every day when he was a kid so he could golf) at times those traits can be, well exhausting, and other times those traits are his saving grace. Well Mary brings out the good sides of his intense and obsessive personality. I have never seen him care and give so much to someone else. They have a common love of hiking and the Adirondacks, they run and workout together (not sure if they love that?!?), and they (well mostly Dave) love the free samples at Sam’s on the weekends. They are absolutely perfect for each another. As his friend Josh said at their wedding, for as long as he has known Dave he has always tried to improve the things he has, or has an idea as to how he can make them better, that us except for Mary, there is nothing he would improve with her (he said it better, but I don’t remember the direct quote)

It was a truly perfect weekend. They got married at White Face Lodge in the Adirondacks, surprisingly Dave planned most of the wedding. I guess a benefit of having an intense and obsessive personality. We stayed in the presidential suite (which is where THE BOSS stays when he is in town) and there is really nothing I can say that would do the suite justice so enjoy the video tour.

Presidential Suite

Ok, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about Jackson and what a champ he was! He did great on the car ride up there and was his charming self the entire time we were there. Now with a 6:00 bedtime, he wasn’t much of a party animal, but he easily falls asleep in his car seat carrier or stroller.

Jackson enjoyed the pool; we even slipped outside with him so he could experience the steam coming off of the outdoor portion of the pool. He discovered himself in the many mirrors and enjoyed all the space that he had to roam around in his walker. He was the ring bear for the wedding and with each of us holding a hand he was able to walk up and deliver the rings, which were attached to a ribbon around his neck.  Jackson loved all of the room to roam around the suite in his walker, he felt like the prince of the palace.

So Much Room to Roam!

The best part of the weekend didn’t happen until we got home. For those of you who don’t know my brother used to be a personal trainer, and is still somewhat of a fitness buff. Every time he hangs out with Jackson he “trains” him. Even though Dave was getting married he still managed to fit in a few training sessions with Jackson. They worked on his core strength and balance. Well the sessions paid off, because when we got home he stood on his own for the first time. As the video shows, I am not sure who was more excited, Jackson or us?!?!
