We started the day with a trek down to the port area of Nice. We a got to see a variety of yachts and figure out which type we like best for when it came time for us to purchase our own. We never really thought of ourselves as boat people and we were right, we are more yacht people.
We walked along the other side of Castle Hill and again saw numerous breath taking views of the coastline. This is when we decided to make it a beach day. This would mean giving up the dream of going to Antibes. Sorry Uncle Gordon, maybe next trip. We did calculate that if we save $50 a month we would have more than enough money (even with inflation) to return for our 30th anniversary. Now that is if we don’t kill one another after spending 21 days together. So far we still love each other.
In Nice there are numerous private beaches so we went to the one that gave us a discount through our hotel. It is similar to a yacht club (that we will be a part of some day) in the sense that it is full service. Not only did we get lounge chairs, towels, an umbrella, but you could also borrow a raft and goggles. Rouge Plague was the name of this exquisite place and it was the only one on the beach with a walkway/platform into the water. Jared greatly appreciated this as his delicate feet had a hard time with the rock beach.
