Summer came to an end and it was time for this momma to go back to work. The good news is I wouldn’t be alone. On July 31st, Jared got one of the best calls of his life, there was an opening at Buckman Heights and the principal was putting his name through to HR for an interview. Long story short, he got the job, so although I had to drop my little man off at Miss Tiff’s, I was not going to work alone. We brought Jackson to Miss Tiff’s several times over the summer so they could get used to each other and so I could get used to leaving him.
Each time we both did fine, so as my first day back to work approached I really felt fine. Everyone would ask how I was feeling about “leaving him” with a worried look on my face and my response was always “I’m OK, my mom always said you appreciate family time so much more when you work.” I truly felt fine. However, as it got closer the fact that I felt fine started to make me nervous. Am I a bad parent because I am not a wreck about leaving him? Am I really going to be fine or am I going to have a total melt down? Thankfully, I was fine. Did I miss him? Of course!! Going to pick him up after our first day (OK, it was more like the first month) was like a 4 year old waking up on Christmas morning, we could not wait!!! We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful person watching Jackson while we are at work. She loves him as if he were her own and I couldn’t ask for more.
He had so much fun at Miss Tiffs, he would be full of smiles when we picked him up and in the mornings he would go to her with out hesitation. In the pictures below you can see his day care friends, as well as his main squeeze, Baby Taylor. She is two months older than Jackson and they have a lot of fun together!
While we were busy working, Jackson was busy trying to MOVE!! From that start this little man wanted to be on the move. Floor time (can’t call it tummy time when he is doing push-ups) is his favorite part of the day. He would chatter away, do push-ups, planks, and schooch ever so slightly. Enjoy the video below, I personally think he makes great noises, facial expressions, and his hair looks great!!
By the end of the September he was doing a little bit of a better job moving around, especially if he was motivated by one of our phones!! He was able to go from a plank position, to a schoochi crawl, and even push himself into a sitting positions. By October, he was officially mobil and we were no longer able to leave him alone, he had a knack of getting into everything and anything.
It was fun watching him discover new things as he would scooch around our house. Watching him feel different carpets or the hardwood floor and tile. It amazes me how their little brains work.
Jackson got to experience a fudgesicle for the first time. It safe to say that if he LOVED it, I mean the kid loves rice cereal and baby oatmeal. Eating with Jackson was always an adventure. As you can see in the pictures below on several occasions he would fall asleep, he made great facial expressions often followed by a shiver, and a bath was always guaranteed after the evening meal. By then the little hair he did have was crusted with food. October 5th was a big day for him int he eating department. . .his first tooth peeked through. He was on his way to a mouth full of teeth and enjoying non-blended food.
Jackson also started his love of grapefruits. We spent the whole weekend with GiGi when Jared was in Chicago. This was nice for everyone, as it gave me a chance to sleep in, as my mom is up early anyway. She usually wakes up before Jackson and then it is her turn to be a 4 year old on Christmas morning. She would make her coffee and sit on the coach excitedly waiting for him to wake up! We had a nice day of shopping, lunch and walks on the canal, and baths in the sink. While we were enjoying a Label 7 cosmo along the canal that Jackson went for Gi’s grapefruit, being the giving grandmother that she is, she sucked off any alcohol and let him have a taste. As we enjoyed his signature facial expressions and shivers, we watched him go at it for more! He was hooked, we aren’t sure if it is the grapefruit itself or the remnants of the cosmo.
One of our favorite times of day is Nightly Nakie Time. . . someday he will hate us for documenting this, but for now I love watching his little nakie body. Nakie time usually came before or after bath time, which he also loves! Please don’t mind Jared’s commentary during this video (or any videos for that matter) as he forgets that the camera is rolling :O)
Enjoy the pictures . . .
