When we first got to Capri we asked Gaitano some of his favorite restaurants. Tina told him we like authentic regional food and to eat where the locals eat. There were several tables of locals (we think, as they were kiss a kiss a with the guitar player) and a line. According to Tina’s Law it has to be good. We also couldn’t seem to find the name of the place. If they don’t need to advertise, then their cooking says it all. After a short wait we were seated outside and ordered a bottle of red wine.
Well three bottles later, we finally had one that wasn’t spoiled and to our liking. We ordered a muscles appetizer. They were cooked in a garlic wine sauce and were a million times better than the ones we had in Spain. They have a less chewy and meatier feel than clams, but in our opinion clams are sweeter. Next came the second course of pasta dishes. Tina ordered the gnocchi with red sauce and of course mozzarella and Jared ordered the crab raviolis in a light white sauce. Both were home made and both were amazing. It is truly hard to describe either to you, but we will try. Imagine the best gnocchi and crab raviolis you have ever had in the states. Now make them 100 times better.
The waitress asked what we wanted for our next course, you see we didn’t order a meat or fish dish yet, but we decided to stop there. We enjoyed a class of complimentary lemoncello and digested a little.
After dinner we walked around Sorrento stopping in and out of various shops. It is nice that the shops are open late; this is mainly because they close for 4 hours in the middle of the day.
Jared worked up an appetite for gelato and we stopped and got some before heading back to our hotel. He ordered the tiramisu. Tina didn’t love it, but she was OK because of the cookies from breakfast she concluded that she already had her dessert for the day.
