Definitely Yacht People

Pepe highly recommended taking the boat tour around Capri instead of going to see the Blue Grotto. Tina really wanted to see the Blue Grotto as it was one of the Top Ten from her guidebook, but she conceded when she heard that the boat tour would take us to the Green Grotto, which was also in the guidebook under “hidden gem.” In true Tina fashion, we were NOT going to be in the same position we were on the boat ride to Capri. She was not only first in line, but she did her fast teacher walk to some nice bench seats on the side of the boat. As luck would have it, she picked the wrong side so you may see the heads of people in the bottom of our pictures.

Our seats in no way made the trip around Capri any less spectacular. We saw Tiberius Mountain. On the top of this mountain are the ruins of Emperor Tiberius’s 1st century AD villa in ruins. According to Pepe it is nothing more than a pile of rocks, not worth going, but if you want to I can tell you how (in a cute Italian accent). Pepe said the same thing about the Blue Grotto, it will take you 3 boats cost 10 Euro more than the boat tour and you will be in the Grotto for 4 seconds, count 1, 2, 3, 4. Not worth it, but if you want to I can tell you how.

We saw Marina Piccola, this is a small harbor with a private beach and several really good fish restaurants according to the guidebook. Tina had plans of us going there for lunch, that plan was in place before we realized the only way to Marina Piccola is to walk (down steps and dirt roads) or rent a kayak. The guidebook mentions kayaking several times, making it seem like an easy thing to do. One look at the choppiness of the water and we knew there would be no kayaking. We saw Armani’s house, as well as Safia Loren’s and the lesser-known Green Grotto. The color of the water around Capri by itself is amazing. It is so clear and mixtures of blue and greens that the photos do not do justice. The Green Grotto is indescribable; it is as if the water is glowing.

You will see pictures of caves and inlets as well as the l Faraglioni that we mentioned earlier. The guys running the boat told us that when you cross through the rocks, it is customary to kiss, as it will bring you years of love and happiness. So we did and are hoping for many years to come, or at least that we still love each other after 21 days.
