Captain Mario

We can not really call the boat ride back to Sorrento a “mini-cruise” it didn’t take long for us to realize that our “cruise ship” was turned into a water taxi for anyone who wanted to by a ticket and get back to Sorrento. Luckily we got on board, but we did not get our primo seats. We did however get seating on the outside deck on a large platform in the shade, facing the coastline. Tina got up to go take about the 200th picture of the Amalfi Coast and on her way back she was snagged by the Captain.

It is important for you to have a little background information on Captain Mario before you hear the rest of this story. Captain Mario is an older man, with the Italian scowl on his face. He smoked a lot of cigarettes and did not crack a smile once. Needless to say Tina was a little nervous. Especially because she was by herself and Jared was not in eye-line of her. Well, there was really nothing to worry about, because Captain Mario simply wanted to let Tina drive the boat. What started with her posing for a picture behind the wheel with his hat on turned into her driving the boat around some of the large rocks along the coast.

Jared being the laid back guy that he is, didn’t seem too concerned that Tina had not returned from her picture taking. After chatting with Mario (yes she was driving and talking) she learned that Mario’s wife is also named Tina and she has “how do you say it” (strong Italian accent) “she a strong, you know, strong mouth.” From that moment on it was as if Tina, or should we say Captain Tina and Captain Mario were old pals.

Captain Mario said that Captain Tina was too young to be married. He wanted to meet the man that stole her “beautiful smile.” So what does he do next, he hands the overhead speaker to Captain Tina, “call his a name, your husband” In her high New York voice, the only thing you hear booming over the boats load speakers is “Jared.” The video pretty much says the rest.
