We freshened up and head out to explore Sorrento. By this time the shops are open and the streets are lively. We walked down to the port so we would know where we were going tomorrow. On our way there we stumbled upon our future hotel, it was right on the coast and absolutely breathtaking. You will notice the short trek that we had down to the coast. It really wasn’t that bad. . .just a little sweaty. They did have an elevator shuttle, but it didn’t consist of glass doors or walls, so we decided at least the walk would be pretty.
After trekking back up to the town of Sorrento we stopped at a nice little patio bar for a cocktail and to watch the sunset. We sipped some Lemoncello. Sipped is the key word, because boy does that stuff pack a punch. Sorrento is known for it’s tile work and lemoncello, we had to try some before leaving. Jared had the good idea of ordering a couple of beers to wash down the lemoncello. As we watched the sunset a couple came to take some wedding photos. The Europeans are so relaxed they even get married mid-week.
This post requires some background information. Many years ago on Jared’s first trip to Vegas to visit Nick, Jared learned the term “Jorts” from a radio station. “Jorts” refers to jean shorts. The funny thing was that at this time Jared owned several pairs of jorts, many of which were not worn after this trip. The reference was mainly towards men wearing jorts, as daisy dukes for the ladies is still fashionable.
Well Europe is filled with jorts, and not just your average jorts. They are tight and rolled, super sexy. We knew that Jared just had to find a pair and bring the style back to the States.
We were on a quest and were successful after trying on several different pairs. It was like Goldie Locks, the first pair was way too tight (for Ameriacn standards, in Europe they probably would have been too lose), the second pair was too baggy and the waist was huge, but the third pair fit just right. We will leave you to look at future pictures for a look at these jorts.
By the time we were done shopping it was close to 9:30, according to Gaitano it was still early, because locals don’t eat until at least 11. The problem was that we knew we had to get up early for our trip to the Island of Capri and nether of us was really very hungry. Earlier in our trekking around Sorrento we passed a bakery that had both sweet and savory treats. We both agreed that would be our dinner. Now we knew we didn’t have a terrace to lounge on, but the hotel has a balcony on the second floor with comfy couches and chairs. Tina picked out a fresh out of the fryer arancini, while Jared picked a pizza toped with prosciutto and french fries. We agreed on one dessert, some type of pastry with Nutella, since we were both still coming down from our sugar high from the previous night’s treats.
The dough that the pizza was made on was truly amazing; it was thick and fluffy, and delicious. The arancini was unlike any we have had at home. It was gooey and delectable. Tina selfishly wanted to eat it all herself and leave Jared to his French Fry Pizza, but ultimately she shared. We sat enjoyed our dinner and played some Gin. Jared feels it is important to add that he won, but in the end Tina felt that we were both winners because we are in a truly amazing place together.
